Welcome to the Belturbet Heritage Railway, our Station had both Broad gauge 5ft 3” and Narrow Gauge 3ft trains running. At Belturbet the line connected with the Great Northern Railway (Ireland) broad-gauge branch to Ballyhaise on the Clones to Cavan line, and at Dromod connected to the Midland Great Western Railway mainline from Dublin to Sligo. The line was extended to Arigna in 1920.
Our members’ are dedicated to the preservation of the railway. Please have a look around our site we look forward to seeing you at the Station or at one of our many events.
Our leaflets & CD’s provide historical interest as well as coverage of developments on the line. We also maintain a Railway Museum in Belturbet Station. Our Volunteer page explains the various departments within our Railway and how to join the BHR.
